Education

There are many definition of education but in a simple way education is an act or process of passing on or gaining general knowledge, building the ability to reason and judge, and generally training oneself or others mentally for matured life. Many underdeveloped countries today do not pay attention to the importance of education in the society and this has made most countries not to be developed. I ask myself what advantage it will be if most of these underdeveloped countries have people in the government who are well educated and if they could give proper attention to the education sector of the country in order for the youth to develop and be able to reposition the country as they are been called leaders of tomorrow. It is well known that education leads to success and I will be discussing the importance of education and why I think education is the backbone of anybody that needs to change the world in a positive way. Education can never be underestimated as education forms the heart of any society. The knowledge of making new discoveries, executing these discoveries for the success of any society can be achieved through education. The growth of many developed countries today can be attributed to the quality of education that is been imparted to the people. People who have quality education are able to improve the society by making reforms that will cause economic, social and political growth and development of the society. Education opens your mind to better understand the world around you and how things works. Learning the different cultures and happenings taking place at different places around the world is possible through education. Our horizons are been broaden through education so that we can not only confined to what is happening in our countries but what is happening around the world. Good jobs today are given to well educated people, this was stressed in the words of the United State President Barrack Obama, when he said “In an economy where knowledge is the most valuable commodity a person and a country have to offer, the best jobs will go to the best educated- whether they live in the United States or India or China”. This statement shows the importance of education in getting the best jobs in the society and holding the best positions in companies. Education helps you to have confidence in life. You are able to plan your life effectively when you have education as it will help to analyze problems of life and be able to come out with solutions to those problems that you might face. Educated people are able to make decisions that can change life in a positive ways as they will have acquire alot of experience as they learn new things every day. The importance of education is well evident in developed countries as it play a major role in personal and social development. Education has been used as a means to alleviate poverty, oppression, and war as the leaders are well equipped with knowledge to guide the country towards growth. In some countries, there has been problem of overpopulation which is one of the greatest worry of mankind. Overpopulation can be attributed to lack of proper and better education. Sex education needs to be taught to the youths who are adult of tomorrow. Financial growth in one’s life can be achieved through education. Instructions on how to manage money and invest the money wisely can be achieved when you have good education as you are well knowledgeable on the ways to start your own business and reducing the risk of getting bankrupt. Education has been used as a major tool to inform people of their rights and services that they can have access to. In order to be able to differentiate between doing the right and wrong, education plays a vital role as youth are been taught what ought to be done and what not to be done in the society and how they can be a responsible person in the society. Lastly, children from their early age needs to understand the importance of education. This will help them have open minds and be able to have the determination to learn new things as their brain are able to assimilate new things when they are young.

Indian Education System From The Ancient Time By Now

Education is what survives, when what has been learnt has been forgotten.

The education system in India is considered to be one of the largest and most ancient ones in the world .The history of the education system in India dates back to the first centuries, when the young children were taught in the Gurukuls and Guru-Shishya system was the most common means of education After that famous universities like Nalanda, Takshashila, Ujjain and Vikramshila came into existence and enhance the scope of students. In modern times, the education system in India is divided into different stages or levels which are been provided in numerous schools, colleges, universities and other institutions.
Indian schooling takes basically fourteen years from childs lifetime, starting with the nursery classes where a child learns the basic alphabets of English and other tools of the basic subjects. The idea is to develop the capability of recognizing and understanding the things around the kids. As the student gets promoted to the higher classes, he comes to know about the various aspects of our society. All this time, its not just the books that are included in the course curriculum to develop in him the skills of being a hard working child that believes to go deep in to the concept rather than becoming just a regurgitate, sports and other cultural activities are also added up in the day routine so that the refreshment along with the development of new skills may be developed in the child. Here I must not forget to add a new plan of CBSE for the class IX onwards students which is called CCE, Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation, in which the student will be evaluated regularly and diagnosed frequently not only on the basis of his performance in academics but his interest in extracurricular activities and complete behavior towards the environment.
India’s higher education system is the third largest in the world, after China and the United States. The main governing body at the tertiary level enforces its standards, advises the government, and helps coordinate between the centre and the state. Some institutions of India, such as the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), have been globally acclaimed for their standard of education. The IITs enroll about 8000 students annually and the alumni have contributed to both the growth of the private sector and the public sectors of India.

With its plurality and paradoxes, India never ceases to fascinate. And education in India is only on among various other elements that have captured the attention of the world. While the United Nations is worried about the presence of a large number of illiterates, various other countries are amazed by the quality of some of the human resources that the Indian education system has produced. From an integrated and synergic viewpoint educational system constitutes the foundation of the legal, administrative, civic and developmental domains of unfolding India of tomorrow.

The Problem With Today’s Education System

I’d like to submit to you that in today’s world, the competition is greater than ever before and those who succeed, those who truly stand out in our generation are going to be those with these principles, strategies and tools… The people with the greatest level of accomplishment are going to be you, because you showed up, when the opportunity arose, you took action, and I really want to honor and acknowledge you for that. With that said, the stakes are higher than ever before. We have a great responsibility on our shoulders.

As we embark on this journey together we’ll briefly discuss the many issues facing our nation and our world and the truth is, it is our generation who will face the true challenges of the world, and unless we prepare ourselves to address those challenges… Unless we have the tools and strategies we need to address these problems… we will face a time of enormous devastation, and tremendous hardship throughout the world. Its up to us! As leaders, you and I must step up to a level previously unheard of.

In the United States, we have over 1 million high school drop-outs per year! Our education system is ranked 21st out of 27 industrialized countries. And we are the only country who has not raised our graduation rankings in the past five years. Now more than ever, teenagers need the tools, strategies, and principles we’ll begin discussing in a moment because our school systems just aren’t cutting it! You see the education hasn’t changed in centuries…

Our history classes might be teaching the events of the past few centuries but the way we are taught to enter into the “real world” as our teachers so often call it hasn’t shifted to meet the needs of our world’s demands. We are now amongst some of the greatest economic turmoil in the history of the United States and our education is continuing to fail in providing us with the knowledge and skills we need to deal effectively with the problems of our times. So that’s why I’m here… Our current education system in the United States prepares you for college, I’m here to prepare you for life…
Ensure your teen’s success…

Education – Meaningful Contexts Education Peace

Many schools throughout the United States have mandated some form of character education, peace education, or conflict resolution. The Peace Education Network hopes to encourage an exchange of ideas about what schools and teachers are doing that works and doesn’t work. An article in The Washington Post (Kalita, 2003) describing a newly adopted Character Education Day at a local high school indicated that the students found the lectures and skits presented that day to have little meaning for them. This column will suggest more effective ways to make such efforts meaningful and will offer practical resources.

What is hot effective? A one-day event that is unconnected to the students’ everyday lives. What is effective? An ongoing concern for issues of peace, caring, and conflict resolution, integrated throughout the day and the curriculum, in ways that are age-appropriate and respect students’ knowledge and experiences. Rather than being an add-on, peace and caring can be part of the curriculum (Noddings, 1995). Such themes as caring for the environment and addressing hunger and homelessness can be incorporated into the science, social studies, math, and literacy curricula.

In building this approach, teachers need information about available resources. The Internet offers resources and helps us learn from models that are working. In some localities, Peace Centers serve the community and beyond with a variety of programs. Many also provide online resources for those who live elsewhere. Perhaps the most significant message to be gained from these centers is that there is action on behalf of peace education in many places. We have collected a few examples of Peace Centers. Visit the Web sites for models of local programs, lists of resources, and links to other peace organizations. If you are familiar with a Peace Center or programs and resources near you, please let us know so that we may highlight those programs in future columns.

College Education Levels The Playing in Today’s Economy Conquering College Education For a Better

Why I insist that you need a college education in today’s economy? Today more than ever, you need some form of higher education beyond high school. It can be a one-year certificate program, an associate degree or a two-year technical degree. You want to have a piece paper that proves that you have been trained to perform a task at an acceptable level. An employer wants to see that you can start something and finish it. This is proof that you have ambition, self-discipline and the ability to persevere. If you have the ambition and the ability to pursue a four-year education, you will create a better opportunity to make more money and live a better life for the most part. I am well aware of that you can create a great income with a two-year technical degree depending on the major that you choose.

In today’s ever changing work world, you will need some form of technical training to have any chance of landing a decent paying job. With the escalating cost of living in today’s economy, a minimum wage job is not going to help you in pursuit of independent living. I am adamant that everyone who wants to live a nice life needs to pursue a college degree. Not only will a college education improve your life, but it will also improve the life of your children and the life of their children. I speak from a personal experience as a father and a grandfather.

Can a college education level the playing field for you? The only thing that can level the playing field in any society is education. For most people on this planet, the only way they can better their life is through education. In the United States (the best country in the world), anyone who wants to create a better life can by either attending a vocational/technical high school or they can attend a college/university. A college education can afford you the ability to make an income that will allow you the opportunity to live a comfortable life. How much money you will make depends on the major that you choose and your personal ambition.

Will your attainment of a college degree level the playing field for your children and future generations? The answer is YES We are all role models for our friends, our children and our grandchildren. You will be amazed at how many people you will inspire in your lifetime. By getting a college degree, you will be a role model for your children and your grandchildren. Because you went to college, it is most likely that your children will go to college, which will level the playing field for them. This is the perfect example of paying it forward because each generation will do their best to better the life of the next generation. For this reason, you will never be able to repay your parents for all that they have done for you. You can only do the same or better for your children (paying it forward).

Roles Of The Generalist Human Service Worker

There are three basic concepts of human behavior that form the foundation of the generalist human service workers’ responsibilities. These are:

1.Intervention
2.Professionalism
3.Education

Intervention involves the period in which a client exhibits a need for services, and calls upon the human service worker for help. Professionalism is using the skills acquired through formal education and obtaining the award or degree for this education. Formal education is the actual classroom academic training and research in addition to hands-on training through field internships.

The Start of Human Services

Social reforms and legislation actually began in England. The Elizabethan Poor Laws initiated the idea of compulsory taxation to raise funds for helping the needy. These laws also started establishing eligibility requirements for recipients. The early developments in English social reform and legislation are the bridges to contemporary human services in the United States today.

There are three primary models in the helping profession. They are:

1.Medical model
2.Public Health (social welfare) model
3.Human Service model

The human service worker trained as a generalist is unique in its view of people, services, and the social environment as integrated entities. The other models have individual ideas as what is the cause of people’s problems and concentrate on those specific areas. For example, the medical model concentrates on the individual and sees clients as needing help because they are sick physically. The human service model expects disease and social problems to always affect people. Their focus is upon providing services to help individuals deal with problems stemming from disease and social problems. For example, a particular disease might cause disability, loss of jobs, loss of housing. The human service worker works toward finding resources to help the individual stay independent or become independent once again.

The absolute main function of human service workers is “crisis intervention.” Crisis intervention is required when a client experiences sudden disruption such as a sudden death of a spouse or parent, a catastrophic event such as a hurricane that destroys all the client’s belongings and leaves them suddenly homeless. Crisis intervention is the consequence of a sudden disruption in a client’s life. The human service worker is called upon to help the client deal with the crisis and work toward the client’s independence.

Every client lives in a micro and macro social system. The human service worker is enmeshed in the two systems.

The micro system includes:

1.individuals
2.small groups
3.families
4.couples

The macro social system includes:

1.large groups
2.organizations
3.communities
4.neighborhoods
5.bureaucracies

The generalist human service worker’s treatment plan includes all the remedial efforts directed at the resolution of a client’s problems within the context of the social environment. Ideally, the client and human service worker move through the micro and macro systems in a dynamic process and are each bound by their social roles.

Support And Education To Immigrants Is Supplied By The US Citizenship And Immigration Services

Early in the year of 2003, the various services and benefit functions that were part of the United States Immigration and Naturalization Service, or the INS, were placed under the direction of the US Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It was then renamed the US Citizenship and Immigration Services, which is also now referred to as USCIS.

The USCIS is now responsible for administering all of the functions of immigration and naturalization adjudication. As well, it is responsible for establishing the policies and priorities related to immigration services.

One of the many various functions of the newly formed US Citizenship and Immigration Services, includes providing information to those who are interested in immigrating to the United States and becoming US citizens, as well as providing resources to immigrants.

The USCIS oversees and manages all of the many functions that are related to immigration, including: processing of visa petitions by immigrants; making rulings on naturalization petitions; adjudicating applications for asylum and for refugees; arbitrating procedures and rulings that are performed at the various service centers; handling all other adjudication requirements as required by the circumstances.

The department of US Citizenship and Immigration Services is comprised of approximately fifteen thousand employees. Some are employees of the United States federal government and some are independent contractors.

Roughly speaking, this large staff works out of 250 field offices and headquarters located around the globe. They serve the needs of people from all parts of the world who are interested in emigrating from their native countries to the United States.

Part of the responsibilities of the USCIS include providing resources for potential immigrants and for the various organizations that support and serve them. In the instance of immigrants, the USCIS primarily focuses their efforts on two key periods of time in an immigrant’s journey.

The time when an immigrant first becomes a permanent resident and the point at which he or she is ready to formally begin the naturalization process, which will lead them toward integration into the US culture and society.

For the newly arrived immigrant, there is a vast amount of information and resources available at the official website of the department of US Citizenship and Immigration Services, which can be located at USCIS. On this site, there is a comprehensive guide that can be downloaded. It provides practical immigration information designed to help new immigrants easily transition into the everyday lifestyle of the US.

This helpful guide is entitled “Welcome to the United States: A Guide for New Immigrants,” and it is available in eleven different languages. The guide also covers some basic US civics information which introduces the new immigrants to the United States system of government. This is information that they will need to learn to function well in their new country.

For those already in the process of naturalization, the US Citizenship and Immigration Services website also offers an array of educational materials in a section titled “Civics and Citizenship Study Materials.” These learning resources have been provided to assist immigrants in preparing for the US citizenship test, while also encouraging additional civic education.

Everyone wants a US Citizenship, and Mike Selvon’s portal will expand your knowledge on the US citizenship and immigration services. Visit us and leave a comment at our immigration to us blog where a free gift awaits you.
